Flex Play

You should be able to play American Mahjong on your own, without an instructor at the table. Beyond that, every level is welcome, from newer players to seasoned ones. You do not need any tournament experience or know how to score competitively; Mango MahjR keeps score for you. New to the game? Start with Mahjong 101 and you will be ready for a future season.

A Mango MahjR account through my sign-up link, a current NMJL card, and your phone to create tables and report scores. All Flex Play games follow National Mah Jongg League rules and are played from the current year’s card. If yours has been lost, damaged, or simply needs replacing, I have cards available for purchase; just email me.

Unlimited Flex Play tables all season, score reporting in the Mango MahjR app, the Gracey Tile Club PDX club leaderboard, your own MahjR rating on the overall Mango MahjR leaderboard, and one free Wednesday Open Play seat each season. The season runs eight weeks, and seven game sessions count toward your overall league score.

Any fellow Gracey Tile Club PDX member. A game counts toward the standings when everyone at the table is a Flex Play member for the current season.

Yes, as long as everyone at your table is a Flex Play member in the current season and the table is set up as a Gracey Tile Club PDX table in Mango MahjR. That includes games at Wednesday Open Play or anywhere else you gather.

A round is four hands, so everyone at the table deals once. Play as many rounds as you like, then record four hands in Mango MahjR at the end of your game session. Those four hands count toward your league total.

In person, anywhere that works for your table: a home, a café, a wine bar. That is the flex.

No. You can join as many Flex Play tables as you like without owning a set. If you want to host and do not have one, ask the players at your table whether someone can bring theirs, and confirm it before game day. You can also rent one of mine; email me to reserve it.

Each season, your Flex Play membership includes one free seat at Wednesday Open Play, so a week without a table never has to cost you a game. At the start of the season, I’ll send you a coupon code. Use it to reserve your Wednesday seat in advance; the code can’t be used for walk-ins. For your scores to count for the week, every player at your table must be a Gracey Tile Club PDX member in the current season, so plan to book alongside your fellow Flex Play members.

Your membership keeps going. Between seasons you can still create and join tables, keep building your MahjR rating, show up on the overall Mango MahjR leaderboard, and join public premium events. The Gracey Tile Club PDX club leaderboard resets each season, and you rejoin the club by paying dues for the next season when registration opens.

Your first payment of $79.99 covers the full Fall 2026 season and your Mango MahjR annual cost. At checkout you will see it itemized as your Mango MahjR membership plus club dues.

Joining in a later season? You pay that season’s club dues plus the $59.99 Mango MahjR annual cost at signup. After your first season, you pay club dues only for each season you join, and your Mango MahjR membership renews once a year on the date you joined.
